This lecture aims to summarize basic knowledge and skills that an orthodontic practitioner needs, in order to identify and treat patients with temporomandibular disorders in the orthodontic office. Etiology, examination, diagnosis, and treatment modalities will be discussed, along with current concepts of interdisciplinary TMD treatment. This lecture should help orthodontists to differentiate those patients fit for treatment in the orthodontic office from those to be referred to other specialists.
