Dr Cagla SAR received her Dental Degree from Ege University in 2003 and Specialty Degree in Orthodontics from Baskent University in 2009. Currently, she has been teaching and practicing at Okan University, İstanbul as an Associate Professor. Dr. Sar has many national and international publications and book chapter authorships and she serves as an associate professor for Turkish Journal of Orthodontics. Her academic interests include Class 3 malocclusions, skeletal anchorage techniques, functional treatments and arch wise distraction technique.
Arch-wise Distraction Osteogenesis for the Treatment of Cleft Lip and Palate Cases
Conventional techniques for the treatment of adult cleft lip and palate cases, with a lack of premaxillae have some shortcomings. A novel method, Arch-wise Distraction Osteogenesis, was developed for transportation of distraction disc along a curve. Special distractor and an appliance were fabricated. In this presentation, the novel Arch-wise Distraction Appliance (AWDA) will be introduced, successful reconstruction of premaxillae in cleft lip and palate cases with this technique, will be presented.
